Search and Locate the Material

This page is for Keio University faculty, staffs, students, and alumni of Shinanomachi Campus and
Faculty of Nursing & Medical Care.   Other alumni ; click here.   Visitors ; click here.
STEP1: Select the Material
The first step is to identify the type of material you need by using finding tools such as bibliographic database and catalogs. We have several databases to help you in your research: Database List
STEP2: Find Full Text of Articles on the Web
Check the search result. If an icon for full text is shown on the record, click it to access the full text. The full text includes figures and tables. Licenced titles are listed on the top manu page of this website, or on our lists for eResources:
eJournals List / eBooks List

You can also search those titles (strings search) using the eResource Search query box on the top.
Coverage years are shown after each title.
*The eResources are accessible through the campus network only by the Keio affiliates. (Some by the Shinanomachi affiliates only.) For further information about remote access to the eResources, ask librarian for details.
STEP3: Locate the Material
  1. If the article you need is not available online, try our KOSMOS to find the print material. The KOSMOS is the online catalog that covers most of the Keio University Libraries' collection. The location of library material is shown on the KOSMOS.
  2. If the item for which you are searching is not found in the KOSMOS, please check other catalogs. The item might be found in the libraries of other universities or institutions. These items may be borrowed for you via Interlibrary Loan (ILL). Check "STEP6: Access to Collections of Other Universities and Institutes"
  3. We also accept purchase requests from Keio University faculty, staff, and students. You can use Online Recommend for Purchase request form.
STEP4: Obtain the Material
Check the "libraries" section of the OPAC record. If the library name is "Shinanomachi", then the material is in the Shinanomachi Media Center building with a few exceptions. You may go to the book stacks and will find the material. If the location of each item is given as "Yamanaka Book Depository (Yamanaka Shiryo Center)" (off campus storage), then the item is NOT located in the Shinanomachi Media Center building. You will have to submit a delivery request for the item. Check "Borrowing from Yamanaka Book Depository"

Additional Information:
  1. Books are arranged by NLM Classification. The classification number (call number) is printed on the label.
  2. Journals are arranged by journal titles alphabetically.
  3. The location of materials differs according to type and publication year.
  4. We bind previous year's journal issues as soon as the third issue of this year is acquired. While binding, use eJournals or order photocopies via Online Request for Photocopying Form.
STEP5: Access to Collections of Other Campuses of Keio University
We deliver materials from Yamanaka Book Depository (Yamanaka Shiryo Center) not only for the Keio affiliates, but also visitors. Please fill out an application form at the library service counter, or request through online request . Keio University faculty, staff and students may borrow books from other campus libraries. In either case, please complete an application form at the library service counter or use the Online Request for Borrowing, Book Delivery & Hold Items. See Circulation or Interlibrary Loan pages for details.
STEP6: Access to Collections of Other Universities and Institutes
Please see the Interlibrary Loan for details. You may also visit libraries outside Keio University. You need a letter of introduction that includes the purpose for which you intend using the library and the title(s) of material(s) you would like to refer to. Please use Online Request for the letter of Reference or you may obtain a form at the library service counter.
